We started with one coat.
In 1996 the house made a single double-faced wool coat and sold it to a customer who still brings it in for repair. That coat is now N° 11, re-cut to the original pattern with a narrower shoulder and a deeper pocket. Everything since has followed the same rule: cut what four people can make properly in a season, sign it, number it, and stop. The workshop is above the shop on Trubarjeva. If the door is open you are welcome to look in.
Slow cloth, and the reasons for it.
Silk crêpe from Como, washed twice before cutting so the drape settles before the scissors touch it. Wool from Biella with enough weight to hold a line. Vegetable-tanned Tuscan leather aged four months before the first stitch, which is why our leather smells of leather and not of chemistry. Nothing is bonded that can be sewn, and nothing is glued that can be stitched.
Fittings run Monday to Saturday, and Sunday by appointment. Allow an hour. Bring the shoes you intend to wear — we finish trouser lengths on the person, not on the pattern. Write to atelier@twenty3.si or call the shop.
Fourteen days, and a lifetime of repairs.
Courier is complimentary worldwide and requires a signature. Pieces leave the atelier within five working days. Returns are accepted within fourteen days if the piece is unworn and the seam number is intact; made-to-length trousers are final sale. Repairs are free for the first three years and charged at cost after that — we would rather mend a coat than sell you a second one. Off-cuts go to a bag maker two streets away; what she cannot use is the only thing we throw out.
Our sizes run true but cut lean through the shoulder. If you are between two sizes, take the larger — the atelier can take a garment in, but it cannot let one out. Measurements for each piece are on request; write to us with the piece number.
